The disease has destroyed her short-term memory, a significant portion of her motor skills, and all but one remaining memory: her time with her daughter, Daniela. Throughout the film, we see the real-world effects of Alzheimer's through the perspective of someone living with the disease, as well as the desperation she faces to hold on to the last thing that makes her feel safe—her memories.
